Summary
The QMUL HPC cluster runs CentOS 7, which is a rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This operating system (OS) has reached end-of-life and will no longer receive security updates, so we are compelled to upgrade. We have selected Rocky 9 (based off Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9) which has support until year 2032. Many aspects of the OS are similar, particularly for end users.
We are currently aiming for the complete draining by 27th August 2024, after which we will need a few days to perform software upgrades and testing before bringing the service back online.
