Resolved: Fortinet client certificate update required – Tuesday 07 June

Tuesday, 7 June 2022, 4.00pm

Summary

Staff using Queen Mary managed Windows laptops are required to take urgent action to continue accessing a number of University applications. Staff using self-managed Linux or Mac devices are not affected.

The renewal of the User Certificate is taking place on the 12th of June, 2022. The new Certificate has already been pushed out to the QMUL laptops and is ready for staff to use – you will need to select it within the Forticlient VPN client to continue to connect to the QMUL network remotely. Please follow the Updating the security certificate on centrally managed Windows devices instructions to update the certificate on your system.

NB. If you have not logged into your laptop on Campus for a while, the new Certificate may not be available. You should contact the IT Service Desk, who can talk you through logging into the provisioning VPN to pick up the new licence.

If you do not renew your VPN User Certificate, access to the following applications will stop (note, the list is not exhaustive):

  • G and J  drives
  • Scientia
  • Library systems
  • MiCollab
  • Agresso
  • HR Systems
  • SITS/ MySIS
  • ITS Chat
  • QMUL- RMS
  • Central Web Timetables
